Walter David Baier

Mr. Walter D. Baier, age 86 of Pleasant Lake, Michigan, passed away on Thursday morning at Henry Ford Allegiance Health in Jackson.

He was born on May 26, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Clifford and Bernice (Chapin) Baier. On September 14, 1957, Walter was united in marriage with Marjorie Kozle in California. Mrs. Baier passed away on February 14, 2011 at her home in Pleasant Lake.

Walter had worked and retired at the age of 55 as a salvage inspector at General Motors. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Jackson. Walter was proud of his small plane pilot license he received on January 23, 1957. He enjoyed woodworking, playing the organ and he and his wife belonging to the Border Gypsy Camping club in Port Huron.

Mr. Baier is survived by three children, James (Suzanne), Richard (Jean) and Ronald, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and predeceased by his beloved dogs, Tessa and Destiny.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1:30 p.m. in Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot Avenue, Mount Clemens with Pastor Kate Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow at Cadillac Memorial Gardens Cemetery East, Clinton Township.
