Virginia Smyk, age 94 of Chesterfield, passed away early Saturday morning at William Beaumont Hospital, Troy. She was born March 3, 1927 in Mount Clemens, Michigan.

On July 1, 1950, Virginia was united in marriage with Eugene J. Smyk at St. Peter Catholic Church, Mount Clemens.

Mrs. Smyk was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, and volunteered her time at St. Joseph Hospital East in Mount Clemens. Virginia enjoyed cutting her grass with her riding lawn mower, and in her early years driving her tractor.

Surviving is a sister, Jean (Jesse) Franco; brother, Amil (Connie) Duynslager, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene on September 4, 2002; daughter, Cheri Arsenault on March 22, 2019, and several siblings.

Visiting hours are 3:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot, Mount Clemens.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. (in state at 11:00),  Thursday at St. Peter Catholic Church, 95 Market Street, Mount Clemens.

Burial will follow at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery.
