In May 2006 she returned to the US where she worked among Detroit Muslims and became part of the core group starting English Language Learners at Cornerstone Baptist Church.
She enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers (sometimes referred to as the kittens when not playing well) and celebrating her birthday for the whole month of August.
Surviving are nieces and nephews: Carol (Otis) Kirkland, David (Jo) Kuhnle, Donald (Kim) Kuhnle, Anne (Scott) Schramm, 6 great and 7 great great nieces and nephews.
