Mrs. Ruth V. Ray, age 91 of Algonac, passed away Friday morning at Ascension River District Hospital in East China Township.

She was born on March 25, 1927 in Jefferson, Missouri, a daughter of the late Jessie and Hazel (Dravis) McClanahand. On March 29, 1945, Ruth was united in marriage with Luther Lendel Ray in St. Louis, Missouri. Mr. Ray passed away on Monday, April 28, 2003. Ruth lived in St. Clair Shores, Harrison Township and since 1995 at her present address.

Ruth had work as a counter clerk at Awrey Bakery for over 24 years. She then owned Ruth & Daughter's Ceramics for ten years.

Mrs. Ray is survived by three children, Violet Ray, Linda Downey and Luther Lloyd (Cindy) Ray; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; three siblings; James (Sandy) McClanahand, Norma Usrey and Mary Jo Hale. Ruth was predeceased by five siblings, Harold 'Sonny', Jessie 'Junior', Shirley, Ruby and Vernon.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm with a 7:00 pm service at Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot Avenue, Mount Clemens.

Burial will be on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery in Clay Township.
