Robert George McCann, age 80 of Macomb, passed away Saturday at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, Clinton Township.

He was born March 22, 1938 to George and Eleanor (Saske) McCann in Mount Clemens, Michigan. On September 26, 1959 Robert was united in marriage with Karen Cottrell at St. Louis Catholic Church, Clinton Township.

Mr. McCann was employed at General Motors, then worked as a Police Officer at Chesterfield Township for 3 years, and the Macomb County Sheriff's Department for 28 years until his retirement in 1994. Robert enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing. He taught hunter safety, boater safety, and snowmobile safety during his years at the Macomb County Sheriff Department.

Surviving is his wife, Karen; children, Sherri (Gene) Gisler, Robert (Edie) McCann, Mark (Dawn) McCann, and grandchildren, Stephanie, Bobby, Josh and Brendan. Robert was predeceased by his sister, Betty DeCaussin.

Visiting hours are 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot, Mount Clemens.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. (in state 11:00) Thursday at St. Peter Catholic Church, 95 Market Street, Mount Clemens.
