Obituary

Richard M. Rodanhisler, age 75 of Chesterfield, passed away early Thursday morning at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, Clinton Township. He was born June 11, 1945 to Julian and Muriel (Sheppard) Rodanhisler in Detroit, Michigan.

Mr. Rodanhisler was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Mount Clemens, for over 20 years where he served as a sacristan and volunteered in other church activities. He was employed as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 2000 after 35 years of service.

Rich was dedicated to his family, and was extremely proud of his grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to share his joy in their accomplishments. He loved attending their school activities, and he rarely missed a sporting event. In fact, early for everything, Rich usually made it to the venue before the team ever arrived. He was a constant support on the sidelines, offering encouragement to his grandchildren and their teammates alike.

Rich found great delight in offering simple kindnesses to others. He enjoyed his many friends at St. Peter Church and St. Mary School, and he looked forward to visiting with them each morning at Mass. Rich's faith was his foundation in life. It was a gift he shared with others and the greatest gift he gave to his family.

Surviving are his daughters, Michelle (Scott) Smith and Linda (Chris) DiGiuseppe; grandchildren, Cara Smith, Michael Smith, John DiGiuseppe and Anthony DiGiuseppe, and brother, James (Martha) Rodanhisler. Rich was predeceased by his parents, Julian and Muriel, and brothers, Charles and George.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. (in state 11:00), Friday, April 9, 2021 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 95 Market Street, Mount Clemens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Father Solanus Guild.
