Melvin Roy Kerner Jr., went home to be with the Lord,  peacefully on April 3, 2026. He was born to Melvin Roy Kerner Sr. and Regina Arlene Kerner (nee - Schmidt) on March 9, 1954.

Mel was a huge sports participant and fan from an early age, especially of the Detroit Tigers. He passed only a few hours before the Tigers home opener, possibly hoping to get the best seat in the house for the game. His other interests included genealogy and local area history, especially the Mount Clemens area. He was an avid fisherman, spending countless summers on the lake. Mel was also an accomplished guitar player from an early age, which carried through to a lifelong participation in many local bands. His talents were an inspiration to many musicians.

Surviving is his mother, Regina Kerner; siblings, Michele Kerner, Donald (Kim) Kerner and Jennifer (Steven) Haberer, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Mel was predeceased by his father, Melvin Sr.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
