Obituary

Mary Emma McKenzie Warnick, 97, of Mount Clemens, MI, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020.

Born March 20, 1923, in Grantsville, MD, as the middle child of Raymond Francis and Lula (Robeson) McKenzie. She was predeceased in death by all her siblings, Ann Fowler, Cecelia Dugan, Gilbert McKenzie, Austin "Tip" McKenzie, Leonard McKenzie & Paul McKenzie.

She graduated from Grantsville High School, class of 1941.  She married Lewis Joseph Warnick, a coalminer from Barton, MD at St. Anne's Church in Avilton, MD in September of 1941.  She becomes a mother to William Joseph, in 1943.  They moved to Mount Clemens Michigan in 1947.  She was a shoe saleswoman for Rae's Shoes, in downtown Mount Clemens for over 30 years.

She loved entertaining for her friends, family, and even the neighbors.  She enjoyed playing cards with Cooney's Cronies & was a proud member of St. Peter's Parish Church.  She was president of the Second Horizons Senior Club.  She loved playing Bingo and to keep her mind sharp watching the Game Show Network.  She watched many years of baseball for her brothers, her husband and his 7 brothers.  When her son was old enough, he played on a St. Mary's team as the southpaw pitcher. She loved the Detroit Tigers and cheered them on.

Around 1979, Lewis & Mary Emma became the loving "adopted" grandparents to Maria (Miller) Myers.  When Maria married Eric & they had children, they became the proud great grandparents to Genevieve & Brett Myers.  They took many trips "home" to Maryland for the Warnick Family Reunion and to reminisce with her family.

She loved music and listening to her brother Paul play every instrument and her sisters sing.  She kept in touch over the years with all her classmates from Grantsville High School, and wore her class ring every day.

In 2008, her husband of 67 years, Lewis passed away.  In October of 2019, her attentive son, William passed away.  She is survived by Maria (Eric), great grandchildren, in laws, nieces, nephews and a loving community of neighbors.
