Linda
Brown
Aug 11, 1947 — Jan 4, 2026
Linda Kay Brown (Rocker), 78, of Fort Gratiot, Michigan, passed away on January 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and an open heart. Born on August 11, 1947, she lived her life by a simple but profound motto: there were no strangers, only friends she hadn't met yet.
Her focus on her family was most important to Linda whether she was packing up a newborn and moving away from all she knew to another state in support of her husband's path to being a pillar of strength when he had life-altering injuries and illnesses. She met every challenge she encountered with courage and strength of spirit.
For many years, she dedicated her professional life to serving others at Macomb County Mental Health. Her career was more than a job; it was an extension of her innate desire to help those in the community that she loved so much.
She also worked tirelessly for her community at Zion United Church of Christ in Mount Clemens, Michigan where she was a devoted, lifelong member. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life and her church family became a part of her real family. That family provided a backdrop of support and fellowship throughout her life.
Though she faced profound personal tragedies, including the loss of her beloved husband of nearly 50 years, Dennis, and her cherished daughter, Katie, Linda chose to meet grief with grace. Rather than folding in on herself, she leaned further into the world. She made the courageous choice to keep living loudly. She refused to let sorrow dim her spirit, choosing instead to travel, learn, and grow.
She was a lifelong learner who was always ready to try something new, whether it was a dance class, a new craft, playing cards, or creating art. However, her favorite "hobby" was being a grandmother. In her retirement, she found her greatest joy in her grandchildren, Andrew and Grace. She often remarked that she retired at the perfect time to be "totally present" in their lives, and they remained the absolute light of her world.
She is survived by her son, James (Michelle) Brown; brother, Tim (Colleen) Rocker; sister, Tamara (David) Hamacher; grandchildren, Andrew and Grace Brown; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. She has been reunited in peace with her husband, Dennis, and daughter, Katie and parents, Carl and Kathryn Rocker.
Her family will remember her as the woman who loved them fiercely and who greeted every new face with a smile. She has left the world a friendlier place than she found it.
Visitation will be from 10-11am on Saturday, January 10, 2026, immediately followed by funeral service at 11am at Zion United Church of Christ, 68 New St, Mt Clemens, Michigan, with Rev Ed Bray officiating. Private interment will happen at Clinton Grove Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Zion United Church of Christ in Mount Clemens, Michigan as they minister to the community she loved so much.
