Obituary

Julia Elizabeth Stark

February 16, 1939 - October 31, 2024

Mrs. Julia Elizabeth Stark, 85, of Mount Clemens died Thursday morning in her home surrounded by her family.

Julia was the daughter of the late Dr. Joseph and Bessie (Comins) Reichman of Mount Clemens. In 1957 she graduated from St. Mary High School. In 1960 she was united in marriage with James Stark at St. Peter Catholic Church. They spent many days dancing in the kitchen, many summers with family at their cottage in Caseville, and celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary last summer.

Through her work as a Licensed Practical Nurse and as longtime hospice volunteer, Julia cared for others with skill and love. This work allowed Julia to put into action her faith, which is her legacy. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society, Worship Council, and the Resurrection Choir. Julia was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Fire Department. She enjoyed helping others and reading, and her greatest joys came from being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Julia is survived by her husband James and their five children, Steven (Kyle) Stark, Suzan (Dennis) Rickert, Nadine (Karl) Korneffel, Joseph (Suzanne) Stark, and Bessie (Bob) Loeffler); her siblings Mary Joe (Larry) Burns, Jane (Jim) Duncan, and Jill Reichman; 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Julia was predeceased by her grandson James Stark and her siblings Mary Agnes Reichman and Gregory Reichman.

Visitation is Saturday, November 2 from 1:00p-7:00p at Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot Avenue, Mount Clemens. In keeping with Julia's enduring devotion to Mary the Blessed Mother, a Rosary service will be held at 6:00p.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Sunday, November 3 at 3:30p (viewing at 3:00p) at St. Peter Catholic Church, 95 Market Street, Mount Clemens. Reverend Father John A. Maksym will officiate.
