Judith Ann Fanning, age 80, passed into her next life on Friday October 21, 2016, at home surrounded by her family. Judi was born to Lewin (Red) and Mildred Jefferies in Mt. Clemens on January 18, 1936. She graduated from Mt. Clemens High School in 1953 and married her high school sweetheart, Clifford Fanning, on July 10, 1954, and together they raised three children.

She worked in the Macomb County Clerk's Office for 6 years until 1979 when she and Cliff moved to Bear Lake Twp. in Kalkaska where she began working in Circuit and Probate courts until she retired in 1996. Judi and Cliff camped all around the US and a highlight was a cruise to Alaska with Herb and Wilma Fanning, both couples celebrating their 50th anniversaries.

Judi was an avid reader, loved many genres of music, touring Europe with family members, shopping, going to concerts and plays with her sister, and church activities. In 2014, after the death of Cliff in 2013, she returned to the Mt. Clemens area to be closer to her family. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Clemens and the Kalkaska Eagles Aeerie 4496.

Surviving are her daughters, Nancy (Ted) Petri, Laurel (Brian) Crawford, and daughter-in-law Jill (Jeff) Hampson; grandchildren Lisa (Michael) Schlaack, Chelsea and Abigail Petri, Meghan (Jeff) Rogers, Bethany (Darin) Mock, Lindsay (Michael) Murray, and Ian Fanning; great grandsons Jason, Drew, and Devin Schlaack, Brady and Reese Mock, Jack and William Rogers; beloved sister Janet Hudock; sisters-in-law Wilma Fanning and Lynne (Gene) McKinney; and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceding Judi in death were her husband Clifford, son Michael, grandson Christian Schoen, brother in law Anthony Hudock and her parents.

Arrangements entrusted to Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot, Mt. Clemens, MI 48043 with visitation on Wednesday, October 26th from 2:00 to 9:00 P.M. A celebration of Judi's life will be Thursday, October 27th at 11:00 A.M., at First United Methodist Church, 57 Southbound Gratiot, Mt. Clemens, MI 48043 with visitation at 10:00 A.M., Rev. Mary McInnes officiating.
