Josephine V. Jones, age 96 of Mount Clemens, a 47 year resident of Macomb County, passed away early Thursday morning at Martha T. Berry Medical Care Facility, Mount Clemens.
She was born September 11, 1920 to Ettore and Enrica (Dieppe) Vielmo in Domegge, diCadore, Italy. In 1922 Josephine came to the United States through Ellis Island. In 1952 she was united in marriage with Kenneth Jones in Detroit, Michigan.
Josephine was a member of the Italian American Club, the Oriental Art Society,and for over 25 years volunteered at the Detroit Institute of Arts Museum & the Film Festival. In her early 60's she took up flying, and was an avid bowler and golfer.
Surviving are her children, Eric Jones and Sara (Tom) Tarmina. Josephine was a wonderful grandmother to, Rachel (Jason) Hammons and Lauren (Mark) Pingel. Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Josephine and Jack Hammons, and brother, Remo Vielmo. Mrs. Jones was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth in 1979, and sister, Ines Pyles.
Visiting hours are 2 - 7:00 p.m. (5:00 p.m. Prayer service), Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot, Mount Clemens.
