Johnnie D. Ramey, age 84 of Harrison Township, passed away Monday afternoon at his home.

He was born January 12, 1934 to George and Mary (Potter) Ramey in Elkhorn, Kentucky. Johnnie was united in marriage to Jean Charles on October 14, 1958.

Mr. Ramey was a veteran of the United States Army, and was employed as a truck driver for Midwest Bridge for over 30 years before his retirement. He was a member of the AmVets, Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion, and the Moose Lodge. Johnnie volunteered his time at the American Legion helping others in need.

Surviving are his children, Johnnie Blake (Barbara) Ramey, Elisha (Vince) Messina; grandchildren, Kimberly (Jay) Fielden and Joshua Ramey, Vincent, Michael and Brent Messina; great-grandchildren Korbin and Kaden Fielden; and siblings Thomas, Doug, and Pearlee. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean; and siblings Carmen, Raymond, Dowzell, and Ample.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 67055 Gratiot Ave, Richmond , Michigan 48062.

Mr. Ramey's cremated remains will be buried with U.S. Army honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
