John Helzer, 69, of Ray Township passed away unexpectedly, February 21, 2025 at his home.

He was predeceased by his father Edward Helzer. Survived by his mother, Carole (Gilbert) Plotzke, Siblings: Rosalyn (Gary) Whitmore, Cathy (Rick) Luckee and Joseph Helzer.  Extended family included is step-son James (Dawn) Wawrzyniak, Grandsons Alec and Bryce Wawrzyniak and brother-in-law Gary (Linda) Hohf.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and just the rugged nature of the outdoors.  He will be remembered as a true craftsman, a master of woodworking whose skill was second to none. He was tough as nails, but beneath that rough exterior was a heart that cared deeply for people he called family.

A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
