Obituary

On May 4, 2022, Jo passed away peacefully at her home in Chesterfield, MI after a brief battle with leukemia. She was surrounded by her loving family. Jo was 83.

She was born September 1, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to Joesph and Mildred Angeli. She was the third child of five. Tragically, her parents as well as an older sister passed away when she was very young. At the time she and her younger siblings went to live with their maternal aunt Marian and her husband Clarence Edem and their son. They raised them as their own, and were their mom, dad, and brother.

Jo attended St. David's Catholic School and graduated in 1956.

After high school, Jo went to work for the Detroit Police Department as a secretary in the Driver License Bureau. She transferred to the Women's Division, then ultimately to the Detective Bureau. One day, in 1959 while coming home from work, the love of her life Bill, noticed her "in a beautiful white blouse, she looked like an angel." He asked her out and she politely declined due to a prior commitment.

Jo moved to San Francisco where she lived for a year and a half. While there, she worked in Accounts Payable at the CNH Sugar Factory.

In 1962, Jo returned to Detroit and began dating Bill, and quickly was engaged. On January 26, 1963, she and Bill were married and began their 59 years of devotion to each other. They lovingly raised five children in the Catholic Faith. Jo was always involved at Assumption Grotto where she and Bill sent all five children. Whether as a lunch mother, bingo worker, or Saturday afternoon movie coordinator at the school.

Once all of her children were full time students, she went back to continue her career in Accounts Payable with the Permawick Company.

Jo was a fierce fighter, twice defeating breast cancer. She also battled through heart surgeries and two knee replacements. Her children and grandchildren always considered her the pillar of the family, the true Matriarch.

Jo volunteered her time at St. Peter's Church in Mt. Clemens prior to COVID 19.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mildred Angeli and Marian and Clarence Edem, her sister Mary Lou Angeli, sister Rose Nemeth, brother-in-law John Nemeth, and her brother Henry Edem. Also several other in-laws, Frank Ouellette, Roman "Ray" Swol, Dorothy Raver, Marie and Hank Carroll Thomas and Patricia Boucher, James and Erma Boucher, James and Yvonne Turner.

Jo is survived by the loves of her life; husband William "Bill" Boucher, her children Eric (Lourie) Boucher, Dianne (Dan) Verbeke, Steven (Tracey) Boucher, Christopher (Lisa) Boucher and Pamela (Brad) Karas. Grandchildren; Justin, Ryan (Carolyne), William "Billy", Danielle (Jeff), Rayna, Steven, Nick, Erica (A.J.), Joe, Sarah, Nick (Autumn), Austin (Sarah), Andrew, Matthew Alyssa, and 11 great grandchildren. Jo is also survived by her sister Jeanette Swol of Arizona, brother Joseph Angeli of California, brother-in-law Bill Raver and sister-in-law Joan Edem. She also cherished all of her many nieces, nephews and their respective families, as well as many very close, dear friends.
