Obituary

HELEN MARIE BRANDENBURG, 94, of Clinton Township, MI, passed peacefully from this world on April 26, 2025, in the comfort of her home and company of her children. Born in Washington DC on August 16, 1930, Helen met her husband-to-be James Brandenburg on a dance floor in Jacksonville FL. Married in 1954, they settled in the Mount Clemens area and raised six children together. Helen served in the Macomb County Clerk's office for almost 20 years. She was a longtime member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Mount Clemens, where she served in the Altar Society. Helen delighted in her children and grandchildren, was relentlessly positive, and missed no opportunity to appreciate beauty in the world around her—especially flowers! Asked recently if she had a favorite poem, she didn't hesitate to break into a tune sung by Bing Crosby:

You got to . . .

Accentuate the positive

Eliminate the negative

And latch on to the affirmative

Don't mess with mister in-between

You got to . . .

Spread joy up to the maximum

Bring gloom down to the minimum

And have faith, or pandemonium

Liable to walk upon the scene

Helen was predeceased by her husband James, her brother Joseph Bryan, and her daughter Mary Wimbley. She is survived by her sister, Sister Florence Bryan, SSJ; daughters Juliana and Barbara Bosel (Jerry), sons Paul (Trudy), Thomas (Debbie) and Joseph (Robin), and son-in-law Kevin Wimbley; grandchildren Sarah, Catherine, Savannah, Matthea, Peter, Alexandria, Jeremy, and Luc; and a growing number of precious great-grandchildren.

Holy Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Peter Catholic Church in Mount Clemens on Friday, May 2 at 11:30am, with visitation commencing at 10:30am, and interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township following the Mass with Father Christopher Talbot officiating.

You may live stream the funeral mass at YouTube, St. Peters, Mt. Clemens.
