Mrs. Greta Gronefeld, age 83 of Clinton Township, passed away early Wednesday morning at McLaren-Macomb Hospital, Mount Clemens.

She was born May 30, 1935 in Lauterbauch Hessen, Germany, a daughter of the late Arthur and Lena (Grunewald) Jung. On March 26, 1955, Greta was united in marriage with Raymond E. Gronefeld, Jr. in Germany. The couple moved to the United States in 1956.

Greta worked as a hair dresser, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and watching German movies. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Church, Macomb, and was an honorary member of the Ladies Aide at church.

Mrs. Gronefeld is survived by seven children, Rosita Napier, Donna (Don) Denryter, Nena Smith, Raymond (Nina) Gronefeld III, Linda Palko, Ramona (Ernie) Hollis and Kimberly (Dennis) Waligore; 22 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and two sisters, Maria Burnett and Elizabeth Krugh. Greta was predeceased by her husband, Raymond on September 4, 1999, and three siblings, Martha, Bruno and Helmut.

Visiting hours are 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. (with a 7:30 p.m. funeral service), Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot Avenue, Mount Clemens. Reverend Michael Heiden will officiate the funeral service. Private cremation will follow service.
