Obituary

Mr. Edward Joseph Pokrzywinski, age 83 of Mount Clemens passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 10, 2023.

Edward was born on November 19, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Alexander and Sophie Pokrzywinski. He met his wife Annetta while they were both students at the University of Pittsburgh. After graduation they married and moved to their home in Mount Clemens, Michigan where they raised their family and enjoyed many happy years together. The couple would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on September 4, 2023.

Mr. Pokrzywinski was employed as a Chemical Engineer for the Ford Motor Company and then DuPont, retiring in 1993. In addition to his career with DuPont, Edward was active in his community and his church. He served the community at various times as a member of the Mount Clemens School Board and President of the Chamber of Commerce. Edward volunteered as a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 94. He was also an active member of First Presbyterian Church and then CrossWay Evangelical Presbyterian Church both in Mount Clemens. Edward organized and participated in the activities of the men's clubs of these organizations as well as serving as a church Elder and on various committees until his passing.

Throughout the years Edward spent many happy times camping and traveling with his wife and family. Other activities he enjoyed included golf and playing cards, especially euchre around the picnic table with his children. Watching the Detroit Tigers and his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers play was also one of his favorite pastimes. He was a supportive and loving father and grandfather who was extremely proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.

Edward is survived by his beloved wife Annetta, his brothers Bernard (Jacqueline) Pokrzywinski and Richard (Eleanor) Pokrzywinski; precious children Diana Byks, Barbara (Kevin) Chadwick and Paul Pokrzywinski as well as treasured grandchildren Andrew and Sara Byks and Brooklyn Chadwick.
