Edward Thomas Kawa, Jr.

Mr. Edward Thomas Kawa, Jr., age 72 of Mount Clemens, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday at McLaren-Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens.

He was born on November 15, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan, a son of the late Edward and Helen (Janiszewski) Kawa. On December 10, 1971, Edward was united in marriage with Nancy Strassburg in St. Peter Catholic Church in Mount Clemens.

Edward was a police officer with Homeland Security. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Edward was a graduate of Saginaw Valley College with a Bachelor of Science degree. He served in. The United States Army and was a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Kawa is survived by his wife, Nancy and three siblings, Mark (Susan) Kawa, Patrick (Shelby) Kawa and Katherine (Robert) Maurer.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 from 3:00 pm. - 8:00 p.m. in the Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot Avenue, Mount Clemens. Due to Covid-19 restrictions: 10 visitors at a time, face masks must be worn entire time (mouth and nose has to be covered). Food and drinks not permitted. Please limit your time to 10-15 minutes of viewing to allow another guest to visit.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. (in state 9:00 a.m.) at St. Peter Catholic Church, 95 Market Street, Mount Clemens with the Reverend Father Michael N. Cooney officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
