Obituary

Edmond Gauvreau, age 90, a life long resident of Macomb County, passed away March 23, 2025. He was born November 20, 1934 to Joesph and Marguerite Gauvreau in Detroit, Michigan.

After graduating from De La Salle high school, Edmond enlisted in the US Coast Guard.  The first job after his service was with the Federal Reserve bank, where he incinerated worn and damaged currency.  Burning money was a skill that served him well as a boat owner later in life.

For 25 years he was employed with the Veterans Administration, assisting Veterans to secure suitable housing to meet their needs. He served the community as the Scoutmaster for Boy Scout troop 73 in Mt Clemens. It was a life-long passion for boating that led to multiple appointments as Commodore of the Grosse Pointe Power Squadron.  As a member of St Peter's Catholic church, he achieved the level of 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus. He also volunteered at St Joseph West Hospital as an assistant chaplain.

Of all the triumphs, faithful husband and father were most important to him.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 37 years Mary Louise, the loving mother of his six children; Edmond Gauvreau (Susan) of Dayton, MD , Richard Gauvreau of Huntsville, AL, Paul Gauvreau (Marti) of Lafayette Hill, PA, Suzanne Gauvreau of Smiths Creek, MI, Louis Gauvreau of Roseville, MI, Julie Lyssy (Thomas) of Granbury, TX and cherished grand daughters, Theresa Gauvreau and Nicole Gauvreau. Surviving are sisters, Irene Malroit of Ray Twp, Anita Jansen of Grand Rapids, and brother, Raymond Gauvreau of Chesterfield; sister Gloria Czerniakowski passed away in 2023. His second wife of 25 years, Glorianne Gauvreau, is resting in eternal peace after a short illness in October 2024.
