Donna Mae Grassa, age 84 of Harrison Township, passed away early Monday morning at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, Clinton Township

She was born March 19, 1938 to John and Mathilda (O'Neil) Hart in Detroit, Michigan. On May 2, 1959 Donna was married to Robert D. Grassa at St. Josephat Catholic Church, Hamtramck.

Mrs. Grassa worked a stint at AAA as a trip advisor, then became a homemaker to raise their three children. She also spent time volunteering at the local elementary school while her children attended. She loved flowers and enjoyed gardening. She had a "green thumb". Donna enjoyed crocheting, crafts, and early on taught ceramics to the neighborhood ladies. She had an adventurous spirit and a strong imagination. She dreamed of flying and often took bus trips with the local senior citizens. Donna loved reaching out to family and friends by sending cards for the holidays and every special occasion. She was a caring, spunky, sassy lady, who loved to be surrounded by her family. Donna wants her family and friends to celebrate her life and not mourn her death.

Surviving are her children, Robert (Michelle) Grassa Jr., John (Kathy) Grassa and Colleen (Dan) Burke; grandchildren, Megan, Melissa, Matt, Robert J., Jonathon, Emily and Sarah; great grandchildren, Landon, Isaac, Addison, Harrison, Leona, Logan and Gabriel; brother, Edward Hart; sister, Margaret (Bob) Shy, and sister in law, Ann Hart. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert D. Grassa Sr. on June 16, 2021, and brother, John "Jack" Hart.

Visiting hours are 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot, Mount Clemens.

Funeral mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. (in state 10:30) Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church, 24415 Crocker Blvd., Clinton Township, MI.

Burial will follow at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Township.
