Mrs. Charlotte Gladys James, age 84 of Macomb Township, passed away on Friday afternoon at StoryPoint Senior Living in Chesterfield Township.

She was born on April 3, 1939 in Fraser, Michigan, a daughter of the late Clifford K. Batkins, Sr. and Gladys Pruehs Batkins.  Charlotte was united in marriage with Edwin James in 1958.  He died in 2014.  Charlotte enjoyed Michigan Football, Detroit Tiger Baseball and was an avid Nascar fan. Charlotte worked as a caregiver in the 1980's and in the cafeteria at Salem High School in Ohio.

Surviving are 3 children, Dennis (Renee) James, Debra Donnelly and Edwin (Christy) James Jr., 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren,  and 2 sisters, Gail Reinhartsen and Nona (Thom) McKay. Charlotte was predeceased by her birth father, Emmett Burgess, who died in World War II on March 30, 1945, a son, Darrin James and 2 brothers, Billy and Clifford Batkins, Jr.

Visiting hours are on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot Avenue, Mount Clemens.

Charlotte's cremated remains will be buried at Clinton Grove Cemetery, Clinton Township.
