Obituary

Charles P. Rennwald "Chuck",

born October 1, 1946, in Detroit and raised in Jackson, NJ, passed away on March 14, 2026 in Clinton Township, MI.

Chuck lived a life defined by service, hard work, and a deep devotion to the people he loved.

After graduating "Class of 1964" from Lakewood High School, Chuck went on to serve his country during the Vietnam War as a Radar Technician.

While serving in the U.S. Army he earned both the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

His steady focus, technical skill, and commitment to his fellow servicemen were hallmarks of his time in the military and remained part of who he was throughout his life.

After returning home, Chuck built a long and respected career as a Lineman for Detroit Edison. He was deeply committed to his coworkers and the values of solidarity and fairness, serving as a Union Steward for IBEW Local 17.

His colleagues knew him as someone who stood up for others, worked hard, and always had their backs.

Away from work, Chuck had a fun‑loving spirit and a passion for classic cars—especially his beloved 1957 copper Chevy, a favorite he spoke of often and fondly.

He also had a gift for fixing just about anything, usually armed with nothing more than a roll of electrical tape and a grin.

His resourcefulness, humor, and hands‑on know‑how were trademarks of the way he approached life.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Colleen Rennwald, who shared his life, laughter, and companionship.

He was a devoted and joyful father to Charles Rennwald Jr. (Jackie), Matthew Rennwald (Michelle), and Milissa McCarthy (Steve), children from his former marriage to Dianne Martin.

His children will forever cherish his humor, guidance, and unwavering love.

He is also lovingly remembered by his grandkids — Jay, Zec, Mikayla (Ryan), Seth, Henry, Maddi and Callie. Along with two great‑grandchildren, Jackson and Gabriel.

Chuck is loved by Colleen's children, Tommy VanDoorne (Richelle), Rebecca Neal and six grandchildren.

"Papa Chuck" will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by Thomas, Charlotte, Cecelia, Grayson, Sawyer and Lila.

Chuck is survived by his siblings Arlene Sporer (Tony), Carole Montanaro (Ray) and Marmee Steiner (Ken) and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

He is pre-deceased by his parents Charles "Red" Rennwald and Margaret Rillo (Frank), brother Frankie Rillo and sister Betty Shellman.
