Carmel P. Martinez, age 77 of St. Clair Shores, passed away late Wednesday evening at McLaren Macomb, Mount Clemens.

She was born July 18, 1947 to Secundino and Francis (Pecina) Gonzales in Midland, Michigan. On September 11, 2021 Carmel was united in marriage with Johnny A. Dhoest in New Haven, Michigan.

Mrs. Martinez was employed for 30 years by the Ford Motor Company. She enjoyed dancing, and especially loved spending time with her family.

Surviving is her husband, Johnny A. Dhoest; children, Jessie Martinez and Theresa (Douglas) Staelgraeve; grandchildren, Melanie (Mike) Jeffery, Tera Martinez, Allyson Staelgraeve and Brendan Martinez; great grandchildren, Mya, Maliya and Micah Jeffery, Gabriella Martinez, and siblings, Aurora Rodela, Janie Thomas, Beatrice Hein, Irene Rauch and Grace Barnes. Carmel was predeceased by her parents, Francis and Secundino Gonzales, and brothers, Fidel and Robert Gonzales.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 21201 East Thirteen Mile Road, St. Clair Shores, MI 48082.
