Candice Lynn
Charbeneau
Jul 23, 1952 — Apr 8, 2022
On Friday, April 8th, Candice Lynn Charbeneau, loving mother of four children and six grandchildren, went home to Jesus at the age of 69.
She was born on July 23, 1952 in Ypsilanti to William and Violet (Forbes) Charbeneau. If you knew her, she was Candy. A mother, friend, teacher, healer, warrior, and medicine woman. She raised, and lived for her sons, her grandchildren, and later her students. She was always there for her kids giving them the things she thought they needed beyond unconditional love. She introduced her children to nature, and spiritually in a way they had never known, and it came naturally. She saw her children through high school before studying, and later teaching with Tom Brown Jr. Candy was a very special woman with a healing spirit, and a wisdom/vision that only could have been passed down by the ancient ones. She had so much to give, and gave it freely. Her children would say that her cup runneth over, but she would empty it every time it got half full. For Candy it didn't matter if you were her child by birth, related by blood, or a complete stranger she would take you under her wings and treat you like her own. She praised you when you did good and called you out when you needed it. She always had some sage advice (weather you asked for it or not
) She learned massage therapy so she could heal with her hands. She did just that! Candy later decided to become a teacher so she could share her healing gift with others knowing they would go forth and heal more people. She could have taught anywhere but decided to teach at a career education school in Detroit in hopes that she could change lives. She did just that, she taught, consoled, listened, clothed, fed, and provided for her students any and every way she could. A difference was made a thousand times over, and to this day her email inbox is filled with former student emails telling her how they are doing, and how she changed their lives, and inspired them.
If you knew her, and were touched by her love, you caught a unicorn. Cherish it, it's a rare beauty.
Her spirit is carried on by her former husband and lifelong love Danny Gowing, her three sons, Matthew and wife Christa, Ryan, Robert and wife Jennifer, her six grandchildren, Robert Jr, Ryan Jr, Ethan, Jadon, Zoe and Ronan, her brothers William and Edward, her sisters, Cindy and Linda, and four daughters by proxy, Violet, Heather, Rose and Barbara . Candy is also remembered by many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous to list but not forgotten. She is reunited in Heaven with her father, William, her mother, Violet, her son, Danny, and her siblings Tammy, Peggy, and David.
A funeral procession will be lined up at Will & Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot, Mount Clemens at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2022, with burial services to begin at Cadillac Memorial Garden East, Clinton Township at 10:30 a.m.
A Celebration of her Life will follow at 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. on 4-15-22 at Fern Hill Golf Club.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race,
I have kept the faith.
