Barbara J. Socia, age 85 of New Haven, passed away Thursday evening at her home.

She was born March 14, 1934 to George and Louise (Whitmore) Helzer in Mount Clemens, Michigan. On October 24, 1952 Barbara was married to Harold A. Socia at Zion United Church of Christ, Mount Clemens.

Mrs. Socia worked at the Mount Clemens Pottery, and Blom Industries for 15 years. Barbara enjoyed tending to her flowers, and loved taking care of her dogs and horses.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Edward) Bicksler; grandchildren, Ronald (Lana) Smith, Aimee (Matthew) Smith, Jeffrey (Char) Smith, Amanda (Aaron) Zienert, Lauren (Teagan) Moore; great grandchildren, Clair Smith, Abbie Smith, Hank Marcath, Rhyan Zienert, Liam Smith, Ivy Moore, Amelia Smith, and Harper on the way; brother, Joseph Helzer, and dogs, Zoey and Carly. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Harold A.; daughter, Linda Campbell, and sisters, Sueann Holcomb and Rosemary Wilcott.

Visiting hours are 3:00 - 8:00 p.m., Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot, Mount Clemens.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. (visiting to begin at 10:00) Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cadillac Memorial Gardens, Clinton Township.
