Obituary

Alfred "Al" Charles Keller Jr., of Harrison Township, passed away on January 20, 2024, at the age of 92.  He was born on August 28, 1931, in Hazel Park, Michigan, the son of the late Alfred Charles and Kathryn (Pratlove) Keller, Sr.

A graduate of Cass Tech, Al began a career in sheet metal, with a focus on HVAC. Eventually this led him to open his own business, A.C. Keller Heating and Cooling.

On April 25, 1970, Alfred was united in marriage with Joanne Ellen Ryder in Ferndale, Michigan.  Soon after, he decided to close his business and go to work for L&M Heating and Cooling in order to spend more time with his family.

One of Al's passions was golf. It gave him an opportunity to spend time with family and friends who shared his love of the game.  When the courses were snow-covered, he turned his attention to the bowling alley, where he was a member of several leagues.  He was a master of home-improvement projects, whether he was building an addition or remodeling a kitchen. Insistent that just about everything could be fixed with duct tape, he still managed to be the go-to handyman for friends, family, and neighbors.

Al is survived by his children, Linda (Steve) Reid, Alfred (Peggy) Keller III, Debbie Keller, Steve (Robin) Keller, and Kelly Keller; his grandchildren, Heather (Allen) Oblak, Gloria (Kenny) Lane, Jason (Melissa) Reid, Alyssa Nelson, Lindsey Keller, and Brianna Keller; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Joanne Keller, son, David Keller, and granddaughter, Dana Keller.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2024, from 1pm to 7pm in the Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot Avenue, Mount Clemens.
