Leona Ida Knoll, age 94 of Clinton Township, passed away at the Chelsea Retirement Community, Chelsea, Michigan. She was born July 4, 1918 to Henry and Margaret (Brenner) Bergman in Pigeon, Michigan. On December 29, 1939 Leona married Henry Knoll. Mrs. Knoll was a resident of Clinton Township from 1959 - 2010, and then resided at Green Leaf Care Home of Jackson, MI for 2 years. Leona was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Clinton Township, the Women’s Guild, Bible study, Quilting Club and Gardening Club. She enjoyed photography. Surviving are her children, Darlene Sleeman-Kaptor of Pontiac, Henry Knoll of Detroit and Nancy (Michael) Montpetit of Chelsea; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren, and siblings, Retha Gravel and Fred Bergman. Leona was predeceased by her husband, Henry in 1983. Visiting hours are 1 - 9 Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot, Mount Clemens. Funeral 10:30 a.m. (in state 9:30), Friday at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 21400 S. Nunneley, Clinton Township. Burial will follow at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Township.
